Vegas vacation

Over a month ago (yikes I'm behind...) we took advantage of my three week break from school to go on a little family vacation with my dad and Matt's parents. As it turns out, my dad had always wanted to see the Grand Canyon and Matt's mom had always wanted to see Vegas, so we decided to kill two birds with one stone. And thus a vacation was born.

Our first stop was Vegas. This was my third time there, the dad's second times, and Matt and Marcy's first. Since I was really the only gambler in the group, we spent most of our time hitting up the "must-see" Vegas sites. We also got to have dinner with Matt's cousins Dan and Kristin, who took us to THE MOST DELICIOUS RESTAURANT EVER that I can't remember the name of...Table 7? Table 35? Table...something.

But enough narrating, time for a photo dump:
Mirage volcano
The amazing Bellagio gardens
Marcy admiring the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower
Dad, Matt and I in front of a very large chandelier at the Cosmopolitan
Checking out downtown from the top of the Stratosphere
John, Marcy, me, Matt, Dad on top of the Stratosphere
Pirate show at Treasure Island
Gondola ride at the Venetian
We also took a short bus ride to the Hoover Dam. I'd been there before, but that is one impressive sight, no matter how many times you have seen it.

The dam, as seen from the really large bridge that I can't remember the name of
Matt and his parents on top of the dam. (Aforementioned large bridge in the background.)
Waving at each other from different states

Next stop, the Grand Canyon!

I survived accounting...and Bailey survived the lake

Knock on wood...I believe I have conquered the last accounting class I will ever have to take. Well...not conquered so much as survived by the skin of my teeth. But I managed to learn enough to survive. And I've had three very fantastic weeks off before the summer session started up again!

In the mean time, June is almost over!!! This spring flew by between work, class, redecorating and rearranging our house, training the puppy...it's been busy!

We have been spending lots of time at Raccoon River Park, just a few miles south of our house. It's one of my favorite places in Des Moines with trails, a beach, softball fields, a dog park, Tropical Sno...basically everything you could want in a park.

A few weeks ago we taught Bailey how to swim. She's been afraid of the water up until recently so it was fun to see her start to splash around on the shore. And finally she jumped right in!
